Summer is here! (almost..)

I am so glad that the summer is finally almost here! As if it isn`t hard enough being on maternity leave, its even HARDER when leaving the house is out of the question because of cold weather! (I don`t have my own car so main mode of transport = my feet and a stroller)
To celebrate the warmer days, Nia and I have been trying to get out on regular strolls through our local bike trails. I quite enjoy getting out and getting excersice! and it seems as though every time we always manage to see something nature related that is really neat!

Here is a pic I snapped on a break during one of our strolls.

One thing I think both Nia an I quite enjoy is summer dresses! She likes to lift them up/chew/suck on them and I just think they look so darn cute! Plus I have recently made a switch to cloth diapers full time (gro-baby/gro-via are my favourite, but I will find time to blog about that another day!) and the dresses are easy to wear with the cloth. None of the clothes we have now seem to fit over them, we will have to buy her the next size up! On that note, she actually has outgrown a majority of her 3-6 month diaper shirts, and she just turned 4 months on the 26th of May! Everyone always comments that "she is so big" but the doctor never mentione anything about her being big for her size, sooo I don't know what to think. I figure that if she looks big and healthy though, I must be doing something right! I must have some darn good boob juice! :)

Here is a pic of cutie Nia trying to get her dress into her mouth while sitting in her Bumboo!
Another thing I have been trying to do to keep myself occupied during these (somewhat) boring days of maternity leave, is start a garden! I attempted to plant some Rasberry and Strawberry plants, however since we aren`t in a permanent house, I have just planted them in pots for the time being. (In hopes that we will relocate to somewhere more permanent with a backyard I can plant them in!). I'm worried that they might not thrive what-so-ever because surprisingly NO SUN hits anywhere for more than a 6 hour period other than the driveway. So I have currently line them up on the side of the house where they will get as much sun as possible! I know a driveway isn't an ideal garden but it will have to do!
I love taking Nia out into the garden. Even though she is only 4 months old she already seems to appreciate nature! She loves watching the trees and flowers and even laughs at them when they blow in the wind! Oh my little flower child!
This was a "just for fun" picture I snapped of her in the garden with me wearing the CUTEST Diva sunglasses! (They will be a much better fit next summer I think!)

and this is her in her "real" sunglasses. (probably the cutest and smallest thing I have seen, besides her adorable filp-flops!)

So far the summer is off to a good start, I just have to find stuff other than laundry and dishes to do around the house so that I don't go crazy!! Its hard being a young mom because most of my friends are either too absorbed in partying and working...or just don't really have an interest in hanging around a baby. Which is a bummer for me, because I end up spending most days/nights/weekends by myself. There is always Gord, but he is usually pretty wiped out from working all week and tends to be in bed by 9:30 or 10 at night. Which leaves me, some good "me" time (but also a lot of "empty" time)

One great thing I can say about the summer is the combo of heat, fresh air and sun makes for a good recipe for sleep, for me and the baby :) In fact that is where I think I am going to head just about now.......after I yell at my Farmville for being slow a bit (whoooole other story. lol)
